Women In Girdles And Bras

At the top ten most expensive books in history: No. 6 and 7, the Gutenberg Bible, The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer Walk

Friends Bibliophiles hello

rediscover the ranking of most expensive books in history today with Nos. 6 and 7.

The sixth book in this list is the famous Gutenberg Bible. I pass rapidly over the presentation of the first text printed with moveable type in the West. We've talked a lot about the blog ( http://bibliophilie.blogspot.com/2007/05/la-bible-de-gutenberg.html ). The last copy sold reached 5.4 million in 1987, even if the most beautiful specimens are estimated above 20 million.

The 7th most expensive book is The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer. The Canterbury Tales (The Canterbury Tales in English) is a series of stories written by Geoffrey Chaucer in the 14th century. The text is written in Middle English verse for the most part. The stories are integrated into a story "frame" and told by a group of pilgrims on their way from Southwark to Canterbury to visit the shrine of Thomas Becket in Canterbury Cathedral. A total of 24 stories are actually spoken by the pilgrims, which seems far from the total originally planned.

Written in verse in 1478, the text is richly illuminated and illustrated. A copy was purchased $ 7 million (5.4 million) at an auction in 1998.
